The LBCA contracts with Calvert County to spray for mosquitoes during the summer.  The decision to spray during the week is based on the number of mosquitoes trapped by the County over a given amount of time. They are very responsive to questions and respond quickly to address problems. 

If the weather is too windy, rainy, hot, or the air quality is code orange, the county may not spray.  The truck will not spray if anyone is walking along the street they are on.  If you are outside and hear the spray truck, you may want to go inside for 15-30 minutes.

If you do not want the area in front of your home to be sprayed please contact the LBCA mosquito control coordinator.

CONTROLLING MOSQUITOES AROUND YOUR HOME

1. Empty standing water from flower pots, wheelbarrows, buckets, toys, etc.

2. Change the water in bird baths every 2-3 days

3. Clean gutters and downspouts – mosquitoes can hatch from water left in corrugated drain pipes

4. Repair dripping outdoor faucets

5. Drain water from tarps and other covers

6. Turn canoes and other small boats upside down for storage

7. Check for anything in your yard that can hold even a few teaspoons of water
